Georgians are flying from Atlanta to Grand Junction on American Airlines, for the low, low price of $280. (Of course, Grand Valley residents could always reverse this trip and go visit the Peach State).
Budget Traveler Clara Bosonetto Maerz writes for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
“Today’s best travel deal comes from American Airlines and it’s a hands-down bargain of $280 round-trip to Grand Junction, Colorado. That price includes every extra fee, tax and surcharge.
“You’ll be in the midst of Colorado’s wine country, but if you didn’t know better you’d think you were in New Mexico or Arizona with a landscape of dramatic red rock formations. Grand Junction is a vacation paradise for golfers, hikers, mountain bikers and lovers of natural beauty.
“This extraordinary round-trip rate of $280 is valid through July of 2009 — making the offer more valuable to skiers and boarders looking for a new winter destination. Nearby to Grand Junction is the Powderhorn Resort (35 miles east) with 600 skiable acres - 70 percent of beginner and intermediate terrain.
“The airfare deal requires a 14-day or more advance purchase notice. Trips can be taken seven days a week, based on availability. There are no minimum stay requirements or blackout dates.”
