Glenn Smith, Chef in Residence at the Cooking School of Aspen, will be the featured celebrity expert demonstrating his skills at Edesia: A Palisade Culinary, Wine & Spirits Adventure on Sunday, March 18 from 1-5 pm at Wine Country Inn.
Smith wears many professional hats, from private chef/caterer to television cooking show host to standup comedian.
“Chef Glenn’s versatility and personality promise an informed good time for our guests,” says Jerome Strack, WCI general manager who is coordinating the event. “Among chefs, he is unique. This is going to be a lot of fun.”
Strack says the celebrity chef demonstration was a popular part of Edesia last year, with standing room only for all three sessions that were offered in the Club Room of the first floor suite in the Vintner’s House.
“I’m sure cooks and people who love good food are going to take home tips and techniques to try themselves. We will post recipes on our blog afterwards,” Strack promises.
Smith stars in a cooking show on Aspen’s Plum TV, with popular episodes on such topics as Condo Cooking for resort guests. He also has taught a course about seasonal cooking at the Aspen Institute and contributed to the mid-winter issue of Aspen Magazine.
His culinary skills have been featured in Veranda Magazine, Delicious Magazine in the UK, Traditional Home and Food and Wine. He has worked with such culinary luminaries of Chef Jacques Pepin, Chef Michael Nischan and Master Sommelier Andrea Immer Robinson.
In his free time, Smith is a professional fly fishing guide on the Roaring Ford and Frying Pan rivers, a restorer of vintage motorcycles, and a standup comedian in Aspen, Carbondale and Denver. He is active in the Bezos Scholar Foundation at the Aspen Institute.
And if these credits are not enough, Smith is a recognized trivia expert in Aspen. Remy Martin, international maker of fine champagne cognac, is the presenting sponsor for Edesia.Tickets, priced at $49 per person, will be on sale at Wine Country Inn or through the Edesia website, www.edesiapalisade.com.
Strack says that more vendors and sponsors already are on board this year, but there is still time to sign up. Prospective sponsors can contact Strack at the Inn for more information at 970-464-5777.
