Edesia, a Palisade Culinary, Wine and Spirits Adventure, will launch on Sunday, March 20, from 2 to 4 pm at Wine Country Inn, the organizers have announced.
Presented by US Bank, the gourmet event will benefit Marillac Clinic in Palisade and Grand Junction.
Other sponsors include KKCO/ NBC 11 News, the Daily Sentinel, MBC radio The Vault 92.3, Peczuh Printing, US Foodservice, FCI Constructors, Absolute Prestige Limousine Service and Wine Country Inn.
Named for Edesia, the Roman goddess of fine food and wine, the event will feature food prepared by invited chefs and beverages poured by Colorado wineries and spirits distillers.
“There is a growing interest worldwide in fine food paired with fine wines. We see that mirrored here in the Grand Valley as well, ”observes Jerome Strack, General Manager of Wine Country Inn, who is coordinating the expo.
“For Edesia’s inaugural effort, we will present only the finest food and beverages. We expect to outgrow our donated space in a short time and become a major event that draws visitors from the entire Western Slope, Front Range and surrounding states to Palisade and the Grand Valley,” he says.
Strack points out that $49 per person price for a ticket is well below what similar expositions command. The organizers, who are donating goods and services, are hoping to raise significant funds for Marillac Clinic. He feels that Edesia is an appealing vehicle to raise funds to address a serious, growing community need regarding health care services.
“It is a great cause and an excellent way to sample the best food and wine available. Besides, it is going to be a lot of fun. ” he adds.
Participating restaurants and food vendors to date include La Rouge, Il Bistro, Red Rose Cafe, La Dolce Vita, Bin 707, Tapestry Lounge, Red Canyon Grill, Decadence Cheesecakes and Gelato Junction.
Wineries pouring at Edesia include Grande River Vineyards, Talon, Canyon Wind Cellars, Colterris, Carlson, DeBeque Canyon, Garfield Estates, Maison La Belle Vie, Whitewater Hill, Mesa Park and Graystone.
Spirits companies participating are Montanya Rum, Colorado Soda Company, Peach Street Distillers and Stranahan’s Whiskey
Besides sampling food and beverages, guests can enjoy hourly food demonstrations by internationally known Juan Cruz Anon, Executive Chef of The French Press in Edwards, CO.
Tickets can be purchased at Wine Country Inn in person or by phone (970-464-5777) or online at www.edesiapalisade.com. Guests must be 21 years of age and present legal identification to enter and attend the event.
